Looking for your immigration history? Try the National Archives

Did you or your family arrive in Australia before 1972? If so, you may be able to look up the records of your arrival online, for free.

Here’s how:

Go to https://www.naa.gov.au/

Go to RecordSearch”

Click on “Passenger arrivals”

Search by your surname for records of your arrival.

This might be useful for certain visa or citizenship applications when you require records of your movements in and out of Australia before 1981…. Or, just for fun! Our Director had fun looking up her father’s arrival into Australia when he emigrated from Fiji in the 60’s (see image). You can even see colour scan copies of the original passenger cards, and have a piece of family history at your finger tips.
