The past couple of weeks have been hectic for us at SML, but in the end winners are definitely grinners! Thanks to our fierce advocacy, not one but two of our clients have recently walked away happy from the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, knowing they can be reunited with their children in Australia.

Our first case involves a client who won his appeal against his visa cancellation. He was released from immigration detention, and was reunited with his partner and five children.

Another client of ours was actually deported to New Zealand, and has been fighting his appeal case from over the Tasman Strait for the past four years. While he has since built a family and new life in New Zealand, he has still persevered in fighting the visa cancellation because of his daughter from his previous partner, who lives in Australia. For the past few years, she has only known him through video call. Now, he can freely return to Australia to visit her for the first time since 2018.
